PROFILE

Howard is our energetic, 1 year old Male wire haired lurcher.

Howard is looking for his forever family to take him on plenty of journeys and adventures. Howard is a bundle of energy who loves to run and play, but be aware this boy doesn't know his own strength! and can sometimes barge into you while having his zoomies- however this is easy to manage as Howard is more than happy enough to put the brakes on his zoomies if there is some treats involved!

Speaking of Breaks, Howard can be a little hesitant of exploring new areas, sometimes if things happen a little too fast for him, he will put his brakes on and stay put until he feels comfortable enough to keep exploring, again this is manageable with a few treats and a good amount of reassurance.

Howard has can get frustrated when in close to other dogs so he benefits from further work on this in regards to keeping him calm when he sees them out and about- he is currently doing really well with this, however it is still recommended he is the only dog in a home while he settles in. As you'd expect from a Lurcher, Howard has a high prey drive so any small household animals would also be a no, and good lead handling from the owner is ideal should Howard see a squirrel on his adventures.

Whilst he does like to keep busy this boy also loves a good fuss from his handlers and will of course be a typical Lurcher and have to lean into you, he loves contact.

Due to his size and boisterousness when playing and running, it is best that he only goes to a home with children secondary school and above whom are dog savvy and know when not to over excite him. Howard can become quite restless while in his kennel so he would benefit most from a family who can keep him active and give Howard plenty of things to do and keep his mind busy!

If you think you could provide Howard with what he needs most then contact Info@rspca-preston.org.uk.
